Personal Values Card Sort Web App

🌱 Introducing the Personal Values Card Sort Web App — Free, Private & Bilingual

What truly matters to you? This free web app guides you through a structured values exploration exercise used in therapy and counselling worldwide — now available to anyone, anytime, on any device.

Based on the original Personal Values Card Sort by Miller, C’de Baca, Matthews & Wilbourne (University of New Mexico, 2011), this app brings a classic therapeutic tool (commonly used in approaches such as Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance Commitment Therapy) into a modern, accessible format.

✦ What it does

You’ll sort 100 value cards — one at a time — into five piles from “Not Important” to “Most Important”. Then you review your results, narrow down to your 3–5 core values, and generate a beautiful personal infographic you can download and keep.

✦ Key features

  • 100 values with descriptions, drawn from a widely adopted therapeutic instrument
  • Full English and Traditional Chinese (繁體中文) support
  • Auto-saves your progress — if you close the app mid-session, your ratings and notes are saved and waiting when you return
  • Pick up exactly where you left off, or start fresh — your choice
  • Beautiful downloadable infographic of your most important values
  • Built-in reflection journal — write down thoughts and feelings as you go, download your notes at the end to discuss with your counsellor or therapist
  • Works on any device — phone, tablet or desktop
  • No account, no login, no installation needed

✦ Completely private
This app runs entirely in your browser. Your responses and notes are never sent to any server and are not stored anywhere. When you close the tab, all data is gone. No personal information is ever collected or recorded.

✦ Free for everyone
This tool is free to use as part of our commitment to making mental health resources more freely accessible. If it has been helpful to you, you’re welcome to SUPPORT further development.
